Andean headwater and piedmont streams are hot spots of carbon dioxide and methane emissions in the Amazon basin
Abstract
Andean mountainous headwater and piedmont streams and rivers contribute 35% and 72% of basin-scale fluvial emissions of carbon dioxide and methane, while emissions of nitrous oxide in these regions are relatively low, according to observations from the Napo River Basin, Ecuador.
