Mobilidade Social no Rio de Janeiro

Abstract

Rio de Janeiro has the highest intergenerational social mobility in Brazil but it is the only one that shows a decreasing trend in the improvement of the social status. This can be explained, partially, by the impacts of the decreasing dynamics of the economy in the State during the last decades on the employment sectoral composition and on the increasing migration of qualified workers to other States of Brazil.
