Ten years of crisis in Greece: results in the social and labor sphere

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of poverty and social exclusion in Greece driven by sovereign debt and global financial and economic crises. The negative impact of the drop in social indicators on competitiveness and human development is emphasized. There is a need to increase the level of employment, reduce unemployment as the main determinants of growth in aggregate supply and demand. Optimization of the public sector, stabilization of financial institutions are very important for reducing poverty and increasing social cohesion in Greek society.
