Restoration of Round Plaques from the Excavations of Glyadenovo Bone Bed Conducted By N.N. Novokreschennykh in 1897: interpretation of the elements of the cultural layer revealed during the restoration work and the traces of non-preserved technical details of the artifacts
Abstract
Based on the observations made during the restoration of round plaques made of copper alloys obtained during the excavations of Glyadenovo bone bed in 1897, the paper provides an example of the possibility of interpreting the use of this category of artifacts on the basis of the elements of the cultural layer observed during the restoration work and their influence on the corrosion processes, as well as the identified traces of non- preserved technical details of the artifacts. It is concluded that this category of artifacts, the purpose of which has not been previously established by evidence, could have been used to decorate sacrificial animals.
