Many users of the library were not even aware of its existence. It had peculiar rules for giving out books, which could not be carried out without the prior permission of the directorate of the library or the Academy of Sciences. The publications of the special fonds were used for writing counterpropaganda works by researchers in the field of humanities and social sciences. Although we are aware of not rare examples of the working up materials by conscientious scientists who tried to create objective science, contrary to the tasks of the party leadership. Research directions of the readers of the special storage department shed light on the development of Ukrainian science in the USSR, which suffered repeated oppressions in connection with the "Block" operation of 1972.
