New Diversity at the End of the Growth Hormone Gene of Local Cattle in West Sumatra
Abstract
From a total of 210 of 1,5-year-old Pesisir cattle, 60 were selected on the basis of weight, those were 30 with highest weight (125±9,02 kg) and 30 with lower weight (65±6,09 kg). DNA isolated from 60 blood sample and PCR product of GH fragment (455 bp) were analyzed by direct sequencing. Two deletions were detected in position 2731 and 2732 with frequency allele were 0.06, and 0.19. Eight mutation were detected in position 2537, 2567, 2639, 2647, 2706, 2713, 2732, and 2813 with genotypes G → T, G → T, C → G, T → C, A → G, C → T, C → T, C → A with frequency allele were 0.66, 0.97, 1.00, 0.54, 0.37, 0.62, 0.77, and 1.00 respectively. These data provide evidence that GH gene is good polymorphic source and can be used for association with performance and investigate whether these polymorphic responsible for quantitative variation in growth.
