Abstract
The article discusses the figure of the British scientist Robert Boyle as the construction of the modern image of scientific authority and objectivity through social and literary technologies that systematically exclude nonhegemonic groups (women, colored people). The paper argues that the figure of the self-invisible modest witness in technoscientific discourse should be queered in order to enable a more corporeal and situated form of knowledge.
