BEAUTIFUL, SENSE OF BEAUTY AND ELEMENTS OF BEAUTY IN TURKISH “MÂNİ”

This study underlines the “mâni” which represents anonymous folk literature reflecting Turkish cultural life. Turkish nation’s sense of beautiful and beauty, the elements of beauty which belong to beauty/beloved have been studied with reference to Turkish “mâni” in order to protect Turkish cultural treasures and ensure them to be inherited from generation to generation by functionalizing them. In the study, content analysis has been used in the process of data interpretation. 4068 “mâni”s which are in the source tagged with “Demir, Necati (2013), Türk Mânileri, Ankara: Gazi Kitabevi” have been examined and they have been analyzed and assessed in line with the predetermined purpose. With this study, it is consolidated that the Turks have always had advanced sense of beauty; they have always been a nation who has a taste for beauty and taste and sense of aesthetic since the old historical periods. It is observed that the poetic themes of hair, eyebrow, eyelash, eye, beauty spot, cheek-dimple, face, cheek-dewlap, waist, heel, skin, age, speech, smile, smell, jewellery/ornament, deportment, coquetry/manner/affection are used as elements of beauty in Turkish “mâni”.
