The titanium alloy has excellent specific strength and is a light metal alloy suitable for lightweight design. However, its low surface hardness and poor wear resistance seriously limit its practical application. Micro - arc oxidation technology is an effective way to improve the tribological performance of titanium alloy. In this work, the influences of the electrolyte system on the tribological properties of titanium alloy micro - arc oxidation film were summarized. The effects of process parameters on the tribological properties of the micro - arc oxidation coating were reviewed, and the research status of the micro - arc oxidation composite technology to improve the tribological properties of the titanium alloy micro - arc oxidation coating was introduced in detail. Finally, the research trend and difficulties with regard to the improvement of tribological properties of the micro - arc oxidation coatings of titanium alloy was prospected.
