This article examines government policies for the development of science and technology in Japan and South Korea, where a historical analysis of the evolution of public policies developed by both Asian countries is made. After identifying the administrative structure for the design and management of technology policies, changes in those policies to the needs of scientific innovation in the context of a global economic system in transition are studied.
