“The unhappy lover of the girl getting married”: A.S. Pushkin’s acquaintance Vasily Vasilievich Davydov

Abstract

The article is dedicated to the admirer of Natalya Nikolaevna Goncharova-Pushkina whom the poet repeatedly mentioned in his letters to her. Pushkin called him only by the last name — Davydov. His full name had not been known to scholars earlier. The author identifies the personality of Pushkin's acquaintance and provides the information about him.
