It happens today a split that is assumed as inevitable. Specifically, in the case of Valparaiso, the split would be established between the representation of the city and the city itself, “real” and “historical”. The lack of cohesion between the two city seems to manifest as a symptom of the degeneration and corruption of streaky culture, characteristic of the port city of the past, restless in its heterogeneity, whose peculiar spatial construction was the result of the action different groups and individuals agenciaban a place in the city. However, as we will try to show, it is important to produce an analysis from different perspectives account the different aspects of this problem, work involved a critique of the representation of the city and leads, ultimately, a critique of the idea of heritage
