The article is devoted to the acute and insufficiently developed problem of syntactic typology of modern Slavonic languages in Slavic studies. The purpose of the work is to analyze the contribution of the outstanding representative of the Brno syntactic school, the famous Slavist Prof. Roman Mrazek into the development of syntactic typology of modern Slavonic languages. The scientist laid the foundations of modern syntactic typology at the level of a simple sentence with his in-depth research on a large speech material of various Slavonic languages. The author of the article identifies syntactic types (ranks) of modern Slavonic languages depending on their structural features and syntactic semantics based on the distinctive features of syntactic systems highlighted by Roman Mrazek. A particular attention is paid to the marked contrast of syntactic types of the Czech and Russian languages, which is important in linguodidactic terms.
