The Jarauçú microbasin present a high incidence of gullies erosion, which are causing not only environmental problems, but also socioeconomic impacts. As a result, it is important to obtain information about the environmental fragility because this can help in the elaboration of an environmental planning that takes into account the characteristics of the current dynamics of the basin, and thus highlight possible actions to mitigate the existing problems and to encourage better use of the water resources. The methodology used was adapted from the Empirical Analysis of the Fragility of the Natural and Anthropic Environments proposed by Ross in 1994 which consists of basic studies on declivity, hypsommetry, type of soil, and land use and cover. To evaluate each one of the variables, weights or scores were established to each situation in which they were found. The weights ranged from 1 to 5 regarding their fragility. The gullies were more representative in the medium, strong and very strong fragility. It was verified that the microbasin faces environmental problems and these directly affect availability of water resources, requiring better territorial management in New Brazil. The pasture represents 64.38% of the microbasin, in which 77.14% of the gullies erosion are present.
