Radiation Safety Study of the Test Room for a 16 MeV Cyclotron Proton Accelerator

With the development of radiomedical technology, medical cyclotron proton accelerators have broad market prospects in China. China’s construction of medical cyclotron proton accelerator test room can improve the production efficiency of imported medical cyclotron proton accelerator. In order to ensure the radiation safety of the test room, this paper selects the 16 MeV cyclotron accelerator test room with a large proportion of imports as the research object, using FLUKA software to establish the target, shield and material model, setting the particle type, energy, beam intensity, beam loss rate and other parameters, and simulateing the radiation dose field distribution around the test room. The results show that the dose rate range of 30 cm outside the test room is 0.146~1.801 μSv/h, which meets the dose rate limit of 25 μSv/h. The research methods and results of this paper can provide reference for the radiation safety analysis of similar engineering.
