The process of collection and disposal of solid waste generated has been presented as one of the greatest challenges faced by modern society. Thus, the present study aims to evaluate the generation of waste in the production processes of a manufacturing unit of leather footwear, located in the central- -western region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Through research, the issue of industrial waste generated by the unit was identified as an important problem to be analyzed. For this purpose, quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques were used, evaluating and identifying actions so that the unit is remodeled in order to augment economic effectiveness. Special focus was on the expansion and investment in actions aimed at preserving the environment, thus ensuring quality of life for present and future generations through sustainable consciousness.
