As Source On History Of Formation And Development Of Ukrainian State-Building Process In 1917-1919 (based on materials of collection of rare newspapers of department of formation and use of newspaper fonds of V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine)
Abstract
The goal of the research is to determine the informative potential of source studyingof the socio-political, economic and cultural development of Ukraine during the periodsthe Central Rada, Ukrainian State and the Directory of Ukrainian People’s Republic on thebasis of source analysis of the materials of Kyiv newspaper “Nova Rada”. Methodologyand method. Methodological background of the research are the principles of historicism,objectivity and systematic. There were used source-historical, comparative, chronologicaland quantitative research methods for their implementation. Scientific novelty isthat the proposed work was not a subject of the special comprehensive studies. This is afirst complex scientific-methodological and source-historical research, which discoveredthe common tendencies of formation and development of Ukrainian statehood with ahelp of newspaper’s “Nova Rada” materials. There were also established methodologicaland method staff of the studying of the press as a historical source. Based on the comprehensivecharacterization of newspaper materials, it is proved that the “Nova Rada”newspaper of 1917-1919, given the specific socio-political conditions in which it functioned,its ideological orientation, is an important systematized-chronological sourcefor studying socio-political, economic and spiritual life of the Ukrainian society of therevolutionary period. Conclusions. A comprehensive analysis of the thematic focus andgenre diversity of publications, their expertise, the composition of the authors of thepublication made it possible to establish its role in studying the history of the formationof Ukrainian statehood and the national and cultural revival of Ukraine, to more fullyreveal the activities of the Central Rada, Hetmanat and the Directory in the revolutionaryera, the positive and negative sides of these state models. The newspaper “Nova Rada”recorded the historical experience of assimilation of national values and many instructivelessons that have not lost their relevance for the construction of Ukrainian statehood atpresent. Further researches of this topic through the vision of the separate periodicalshave a good prospect.
