Pengembangan Bank Soal Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan (PKn) Berbasis Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS)
Abstract
The demands of 21st-century education are to present collaborative learning content in order to prepare students to face the challenges. The learning content uses several aspects: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity and innovation. This study aims to develop higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) through a civic education question bank. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D). The research subjects were students who took the civics education course in the first semester of the 2021/2022 academic year at UPT MPK Sriwijaya University. The prototype of the question bank was validated with the final test result, which is 87.5% in the good or worthy category. Furthermore, a one-to-one product trial was carried out with 89% results in the very good category. Meanwhile, in the small group stage, the results were 83.3% in the very good category and in the field evaluation stage, the results were 85% in the very good category. The N-Gain value obtained was 0.57 in the medium category, with an average increase in the pre-post test value of 0.17%. Thus, the question bank developed by the civics lecturer team is valid and has a potential effect in training student’s higher-order thinking skills. The limitation of this research is the process of testing the HOTS questions that held online so that the researcher's control when students work on the questions is not optimal.
