The BRCC36 isopeptidase complex (BRISC) is identified as the deubiquitinating enzyme for Lys63-linked ubiquitination of Aurora B, and hyperactivated Aurora B in the absence of BRISC leads to erroneous chromosome–microtubule attachment during mitosis.
