Clinical improvement with long-acting aripiprazole in a patient with delusional disorder with hyperprolactinemia: A case report (tur)
Abstract
DSM-5 named the disorder with one or more systematic, invariant delusions as ‘Delusional Disorder'. Patients with a diagnosis of delusional disorder have poor internal symptoms and therefore do not consult a doctor themselves, so they are very resistant to drug treatment. In this article, we will discuss the etiology of prolactin elevation in a patient with delusional disorder diagnosed with hyperprolactinemia during antipsychotic treatment. In patients with psychiatric diagnosis, stubbornness of what we consider to be a drug side effect should suggest that an underlying organic cause may exist, and a detailed neuropsychiatric evaluation should be performed. In addition, we think that the use of depot drugs in patients resistant to oral therapy will increase and its use by physicians will become widespread.
