Communication in the assistance relationship – the suicidological aspect

Abstract

Objectives This work is the conclusion of considerations related to the subject of communication in an assistance situation. Patient communication - a volunteer in a psychiatric institution was analyzed. Material and methods The work will present one, selected, projection method from the battery of questionnaires carried out from 2014. The study was attended by people at the age of emerging adulthood (19-26 years), most of them come from the Lublin province. Finally, the answers of 120 volunteers operating in the Volunteering Center Association in Lublin (Voluntary Psychiatric Clinic) were taken into account. Results The results of the research also testify to the importance of other psychological resources in coping with stress, for example in the workplace. The results of the conducted analyzes may be included in the discussion on the definition and functioning of volunteering as a phenomenon that is still not in the interest of research in the social sciences. Volunteers are a characteristic group that deals free with a variety of assistance activities, with quality and commitment to the projects being implemented. Conclusions Therefore, the work has a theoretical and practical dimension in relation to the attached elements concerning projection methods, with the help of which more information can be obtained from the research group. Communication in the context of hospitalization and treatment is a very complex aspect. The model was created as a result of undertaken scientific research in psychiatric facilities. A person threatened with social exclusion, after a suicide attempt or when suffering from mental disorders is associated with many institutions. Very often, the treatment involves not only pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, but also occupational therapy.
