Abstract
The child's room appears to be a particularly rich place devoted to the "parent-child" dynamic, which regroups, condenses, and accumulates a certain number of key elements to question the material culture of childhood. Based on a suggestion made by Julien and Rosselin (2005, p. 62), a preliminary exploration of the way children's rooms are "designed" and "sold" has led us to focus on spheres of production and distribution because they construct staged assemblies explicitly targeting this hybrid "parent-child" user. This article allows us to understand the place given to this hybrid "parent-child" user throughout the design process of a new product at Gautier, while considering the limitations of in-store displays. To do this, one tool appears essential throughout the design process of a children's furniture collection: a storyline, which guarantees the coherence of the project during the 18 months of production.
