The Commemoration of Francysk Skaryna Image in Belarus (1924-1990)

Abstract

In the article the review of formation of Francysk Skaryna culture commemoration and his image constructing in collective memory of Soviet Belarus is given. The conclusion is made that the Soviet Belarus in the first years of it existence turned into the community united by memory of him. In this image social and national-cultural values of scientific, national and Communist party of Belarus elite were embodied. In spite of the fact the image of Skaryna in official level was identified with the statement of socialist system and Soviet patriotism, in popular memory this image was connected with the emerging of national identity.
