Recent literature suggests that there is an increasing trend of performing pars plana vitrectomy for symptomatic floaters. Although rare, the potential risk of endophthalmitis should be explicitly discussed with patients considering surgical intervention for vitreous floaters. Keywords: endophthalmitis, pars plana vitrectomy, vitreous floaters, floaterectomy, posterior vitreous detachment
