In this article the meteorological and synoptic conditions are described for the periods of the two SANA campaigns in 1991, from March 7 to 22 at Eisdorf and from August 26 to September 10 at Melpitz, both in Saxonia, Germany. Local observations and measurements, synoptic charts, measurements and calculations of boundary layer mixing height and, for some days of SANA 2, backward trajectories are used to describe the atmospheric conditions.
