Aspiration of a bullet after a gunshot wound to the face
Abstract
There are very few reports of penetrating injuries to the head and neck resulting in aspiration of and retained intrabronchial foreign bodies. We present a pediatric patient who sustained a gunshot injury to the face with subsequent aspiration of the bullet. Removal of the retained bullet was achieved with flexible bronchoscopy. Additionally, we review the available literature on this rare injury pattern.
