Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) is associated with weakness of limbs along with pain and numbness of the affected limbs. There may develop other features in GBS patients as well, especially in those who are ventilated, such as paralysis of respiratory and intercostal muscles, paralysis of the bulbar, facial and ocular muscles, electrolyte abnormality, heart failure, and death. Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH) occurs when there is low plasma sodium concentration (<130 mmol/L). The main features are nausea, vomiting, muscle cramping, confusion, irritability, hallucinations, and coma in the late stage.
