Justicia del trabajo y asesinato de campesinos en tiempos de la dictadura cívico-militar del Brasil

Abstract

Este artículo analiza la historia del ataque sufrido en 1972 por un grupo de trabajadores del ingenio de azúcar conocido como Matapiruma, establecido en la ciudad de Escada, Pernambuco. El blanco central de la violencia fueron los hermanos Luís Inocêncio Barreto, José Inocêncio Barreto y João Inocêncio Barreto, quienes, junto con 71 trabajadores más, habían liderado una acción laboral ante la Junta de Conciliación y Juicio de aquella ciudad. Después de haber vencido en la causa ante la justicia del Trabajo, esos trabajadores y, en especial, los tres hermanos, pasaron a ser perseguidos por el dueño del ingenio y por las autoridades policiales y militares. Esta microhistoria de los hermanos Inocêncio muestra la lucha del los trabajadores campesinos por sus derechos laborales y la persecución de la que eran víctimas por parte de fuerzas e instituciones del estado durante la dictadura militar (1964-1985). El artículo analiza una serie de documentos encontrados en el archivo del Dops-PE y utiliza una entrevista con uno de los hermanos que sobrevivió a ese ataque. The main targets of this violence were the brothers Luís Inocêncio Barreto, José Inocêncio Barreto and João Inocêncio Barreto, who were the leaders of the legal action under the Labour Law, together with other 71 workers. After winning the suit the workers were persecuted by the owner of the sugarcane central and the police and military authorities. This microhistory of the brothers Inocêncio shows the struggle of farm workers for their labor rights and the persecution that were subjected by forces and state institutions during the military dictatorship (1964-1985). The article analyzes a series of documents found in the Dops-PE archive as well as an interview with one of the brothers who survived that attack.
