Review on parameters influencing the efficiency of the dual-medium thermocline storage system
Abstract
ABSTRACTThermal storage systems are needed to overcome solar intermittency and make this energy source more flexible and competitive for concentrated solar power plants. Single-tank sensible heat storage using both fluids and materials is a promising option for reducing storage costs and promoting the development of concentrated solar power. This work is a thorough review on the parameters influencing the performance of a dual-medium thermocline storage system for concentrated solar power plants. Thus, indicators such as efficiency, utilisation rate, thermocline thickness and energy efficiency of the storage system are presented in order to quantify the performance of the system. In addition, the impact of geometric and operating parameters on the performance of the thermocline storage system has been discussed.
