INTRASTROMAL KERATOPLASTY WITH MYORING IMPLANTATION IN SURGICAL TREATMENT OF KERATOCONUS. PRELIMINARY RESULTS
Abstract
Purpose. To study preliminary functional results in implantation of intrastromal corneal rings (MyoRing) in the surgical treatment of keratoconus.Material and methods. The focus group included 22 patients (22 eyes) with progressive keratoconus of the stage I-III according to the Amsler classification, where corneal MyoRings were implanted. The mean follow-up w as 9 months.Results. The uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) after implantation of intrastromal corneal rings improved from 0.07Ѓ+0.05 to 0.47Ѓ+0.3 at the end of the follow-up. There were revealed significant differences in the values of keratometry indices in all patients and separately by age groups before and after implantation of corneal rings by the end of the follow-up.Conclusions. The method of MyoRing implantation promotes an early and stable recovery of visometric, keratometric, topographic, pachimetric indices of patient’s eyes. It allows using the technique to delay a further progression of the disease.
