Families with children with special health care needs (CSHCN) have increased vulnerability when facing risks of disasters. The purpose of this article is two-fold: To present an environmental scan of progress on the disaster risk reduction efforts established in the SFDRR (2015-2020), specifically addressing inclusion of persons with ASD; and to describe the exemplar of the Emergency Preparedness “Tell One” Project. Notable progress on SFDRR has been made for families with CSHCN at the global level. Inclusiveness is aligned with the SFDRR, and was implemented through a campus-community collaboration for families residing in a region susceptible to multiple disasters.
