Oaxaca – Blinder Model In Economic Analysis

Abstract

Oaxaca–Blinder model is popularly used in the world to study differences (gap) in average values of two groups. For instance, this technique is often applied to analyse the wage gap by gender, race, economic sector, etc. In order to provide the economists in Vietnam with an alternative method in economic analysis, the objectives of this research are to present Oaxaca –Blinder (1973) decomposition technique in linear regression models and non-linear regression models and to show the possibilities of applying this model in economic analysis in Vietnam.
