Objective Huge heat is generated during underground substation transformer operation. Failure to promptly dissipate this heat can lead to problems such as transformer overheating, equipment malfunctions, and even fire accidents. Therefore, it is necessary to study the temperature control of transformer rooms in metro substations. Method Taking the 110 kV underground substation (Qichuan Station) of Jinan Rail Transit Line 3 as example, considering the influence of mechanical exhaust air volume, transformer heat dissipation, and outdoor ambient temperature, theoretical analysis and numerical simulation are conducted to study the temperature control in the transformer room. The temperature evolution law in the main transformer room under 8 different ventilation conditions is analyzed. Result & Conclusion Setting the mechanical exhaust air volume based on theoretical calculations can effectively dissipate the heat generated by the transformer, and the theoretically calculated air volume tends to be conservative. The existing design fans can effectively discharge the heat generated by the transformer, with a maximum capacity to dissipate three times the generated heat. Even under adverse conditions with an outdoor ambient temperature of 40 ℃, the existing design fans can still effectively dissipate the heat generated by the transformer, achieving the temperature control objectives.
