De la secció de diari al recull d’articles. El procés de reescriptura d’El dia del senyor de Quim Monzó

Abstract

This work compares the articles published by Quim Monzó in the early 1980s in the newspaper Avui and its versions published in the collection El dia del senyor (The Day of the Lord) of 1984. The transition from the periodical press to the volume of articles entails a rewriting process that ranges from correcting spelling errors to excision or massive adhesion of text. Monzó, who admits to being obsessed with the revisionist process, changes the titles of certain articles, eliminates unnecessary inserts and superfluous words, integrates formulas to make the texts clearer and more understandable and, even, includes new information to clarify previously expressed ideas. In this respect, it is worth noting the footnotes, which he introduces in two of the articles of the collection under the pretext of responding to a reader’s suggestions, and which allow him to rectify and include new content without remaking or contradicting the original text.
