Development of a dispersion strengthened copper alloy using a MA-HIP method
Abstract
A new Cu-Al alloy was fabricated by a MA-HIP method for application to the heat sink materials of divertors. With the increase in MA time, the grain size and Vickers hardness decreased and increased, respectively. At MA time of 32hrs, the hardness of the alloy was comparable to that of Glidcop® although the grain size was much larger. X-ray diffractometry, electrical resistivity measurements and STEM-EDS analyses suggested precipitation of Al-rich phase by MA for 32hrs followed by HIP.
