The article examines the perception of safety theme reflected in the phraseology of English. Cognitive, semantic, corpus analyses of idioms is carried out, describing various types of safety – personal, public, state. Peculiarities of their meaning in contexts, specifics of conceptualization of “safety” in English are revealed. The analysis of idioms’ semantics, inner form, and actual meaning showed that safety is described as lack of danger, caution, confidence, freedom, and care. The corpus analyses reflected the valence of semantics, the combinatory features of idioms, the specifics of the contexts, everyday or political character.
