In this paper, Mn0.5Fe0.5C2O4 is prepared by a co-precipitation method and used it as a precursor for the solid-phase synthesis of LiMn0.5Fe0.5PO4/C lithium ion battery cathode materials with good rate performance. Characterization of the precursor and the oxide show that when the cathode material is synthesized by this solid-phase method, mixing the raw materials in advance can provide the LiMn0.5Fe0.5PO4/C with excellent particle dispersibility and unique crystallinity. The uniform distribution of Fe and Mn elements in Mn0.5Fe0.5C2O4 was observed from the mapping diagram. The existence of Mn3Fe3O8 was detected by XRD and Raman analysis methods, which confirmed the structural characteristics of the precursors prior to synthesizing the cathode material. Compared with the conventional solid-phase method, the precursor-based method using pre-mixed precursors can synthesize cathode materials with lattice characteristics that facilitate the migration of lithium ions. Excellent rate performance was shown to be obviously associated with good crystallinity and particle dispersion.
