Katayama et al. perform transcriptome-based molecular evolutionary analyses on eight species from the aquatic plant family Podostemaceae to investigate its evolutionary history of mutation rate and genes under positive selection. Their results show that the mutation rate increased with the emergence of the family and at the emergence of the subfamily Podostemoideae, and with DNA-repair genes particularly under positive selection.
