The paper considers samples of material culture identifi ed in the medieval layer of a multi-layered site – the Khudutepe settlement in the Jalilabad District in the south-east of Azerbaijan. As is known, during the High Middle Ages (IX–XIII centuries) many feudal states emerged on the territory of Azerbaijan. Some of them strengthened over time and played an important role in the cultural and economic growth of their era.The location of the settlement in a favorable geographical area shows that intensive life was formed in Khudutepe in the XI–XIII centuries. It should be noted that during excavations of the settlement, rich glazed and unglazed pottery, glass jewellery from the High Middle Ages, metal tools and copper coins were discovered. Samples of material culture from the medieval layer of Khudutepe indicate intensive habitation of a rural-type settlement on Mugan in the period under study. The location of the settlement on an advantageous geographical territory indicates the formation of life in Khudutepe in the XI–XIII centuries.
