Introduction

Abstract

In order to provide a forum for open submissions submitted to RISE journal (but not responding to calls for themed issues) and also to expedite the publication process bringing new excellent research more quickly to our readers, this issue will bring together a number of these articles that have been through our peer-review process and do not share a focus on a single theme, but rather address a variety of topics within Irish Studies. Furthermore, this issue will evolve over time to feature additional articles between now and the publication of our next issue 6.1 in Spring/Summer 2023, rather than following the conventional print format of publishing an issue only when a sufficient number of articles have been peer-reviewed, revised and formatted. It has always been our policy from the establishment of RISE to draw on the increased possibilities the online and digital realm affords, and this initiative is but one further example.
