L’Institution d’un Prince de Duguet, un traité d’éducation à la charnière des xviie et xviiie siècles

Abstract

The « Institution d’un Prince » can be considered as the twilight of the education treatie’s genre. This work forms part of the genre’s tradition, while enriching it. As in the past, the christian prince is emerging as a model and reminds the true leader of his kingdom. However, the political questions take a lot of importance in the « Institution d’un Prince » which will inlight the crisis threatening the education treatie’s genre because it is too restrictive to explore the complexity of the sociopolitical realities. But as a paradox, more the education treatie’s genre open on different subjects more it concerns a new audience of political leaders, enlightened elite and even population. Then the education treatie becomes book for Edification.
