ON BOUNDARY WETTING CONDITIONS FOR ROUGH SOLID SURFACE

Abstract

An equation has been obtained for the equilibrium contact angle on the rough surface. Contrary to the Wenzel-Deryagine equation, our equation takes into account the difference between the values of the surface tension of a rough surface and the corresponding smooth one. It has been shown that the conventional expression for the work of adhesion to the rough surface seems to be incorrect. An alternative expression was proposed and analyzed.
