Functionality of Persian Medical Thesaurus Database in form of IRANMARC on the basis of IFLA Library Reference Model (LRM)
Abstract
One of the recent developments in the Scope of cataloging is to create a link among the metadata records based on conceptual patterns. This can provide the necessary infrastructure to implement the "link data" methods on library catalogue. One of the newest conceptual patterns presented by International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) is Library Reference Model (LRM).This research has been done with the purpose of determine functionality of Persian Medical thesaurus Database in form of IRANMARC on the basis of IFLA Library Reference Model. this is an analytical- comparative study that was done using qualitative approaches. The statistical society consists of whole records of Persian Medical thesaurus Database available in software of National Library of I.R.IRAN(Rasa). First, required the LRM/UNIMARC/IRANMARC mapping and then based on it, quantifying of LRM elements was done. After that, Structure and content Compatibility in IRANMARC Authorities format was done. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical and SPSS v.23 software. the data showed that 83.33 percent of attributes of LRM model have their equivalent IRANMARC Authorities format. The overage of structural compatibility rate of IRANMARC with LRM model is (83.29). results indicate that also there is acceptable compatibility between LRM model and IRANMARC authorities format.
