Towards a systemic-complex university social responsibility. A reading from Edgar Morin’s thinking
Abstract
The systemic-complex dimension of the concept of planetary citizenship, a key to the politics of civilization proposed by Edgar Morin, is presented here as a model for the design and implementation of a systemic-complex, University Social Responsibility that allows the university a direct knowledge toward building a better world. Methodologically, a qualitative hermeneutical approach was followed, paying attention to the methodological instruments and achievement indicators from the participating universities. As a result, scarcity, in most universities of departments, offices and programs of academic social responsibility, has been a decisive factor in the little prioritization that institutions have given to the restoration of channels between knowledge and ethics. It can be concluded then that planetary citizenship can serve as a thematic axis to form a network of universities responsible for strengthening Social Responsibility, making it an alternative for sustainable, equitable and democratic development.
