QUALITY OF LIFE AND FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV/AIDS
Abstract
Objective: to evaluate the quality of life of people living with the human immunodeficiency virus/Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. Method: a descriptive, quantitative, cross-sectional study with 150 individuals enrolled in a specialized care service in Pernambuco, Brazil, between February and August 2016. Data were analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Friedman, Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis tests. Results: gender and family income were more influential on the quality of life, with the spirituality domain having the greatest number of influential factors in the measurement of this variable. Conclusion: it was concluded that the quality of life of people living with the human immunodeficiency virus/Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is impaired. Comprehending the quality of life as a form of perception of human existence, in the objective and subjective contexts, becomes essential, as living with the virus affects individuals in all areas of life.
