Simulations of abandonment of buildings: A Review preliminary
Abstract
The evacuation models used in construction are tools used to determine the time needed to evacuate a building and can be used in safety engineering analyzes. The application and importance of these models have grown due to their possibilities, especially in relation to the prevention, management and analysis of emergency situations, fundamental factors in the protection of human life. The objective of this study is to analyze how simulation models are supporting the fire prevention and protection, specifically in the evacuation of buildings, both as preventive measures for new projects, as wells as in accidents that have already occured. The study consists of a literature review on the available scientific databases. The challenge will be to investigate the management mechanism to abandonment simulations reported in the literature. As a conclusion, the evacuation models are reporting tools very close to the reality, and can be used both for the evaluation of building projects and in the simulation of events that have already occurred.
