Construction of reference and meaning: a socio-cognitive and interactive activity

Abstract

In this paper, we deal with the concept of referential chain in the textual progression, and we discuss the problem of the referential and attributive usages in the process of the construction of the discourse- object. Based on a theory of referentiation of social-cognitive interaction basis, we show that the constitution of the referential chain is one of the most efficient mechanisms of the language to produce effects of meaning.
