The paper describes the archaeological monuments of the Golden Horde period located in the lower reaches of the Voronezh River. They are represented by Russian ancient villages and a hoard of Golden Horde coins. As a result of the excavations of Romashki 1 settlement in the Ramonsky District of Voronezh Oblast, new details of the material culture and economic activity of the Russian population have been obtained. The studied monuments represent an archaeological commentary on the mentions of the Voronezh River and its mouth in medieval written sources. These objects indicate that the Russian population continued to develop the lower reaches of the Voronezh River during the Golden Horde period. An important conclusion is made, according to which Russian settlements continued to exist in the studied area even after the turbulent events of the Battle of Kulikovo until the beginning of the 15th century.
