Abstract: This study investigated the conceptualization of fear in Algerian Arabic concerning the Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT) as the main theoretical framework. Results showed that fear conceptualized in Algerian Arabic is conceptualized using three figurative devices: metonym, metaphor, and metaphtonymy, with some similarities and differences with English. The similarities are based on universal physiological and/or behavioral states or reactions resulting from FEAR and being the direct cause for its conceptualization. On the other hand, differences have arisen from cultural beliefs which are grounded in a certain sociocultural group. Abstract: Metaphor, Metonymy, Arabic, Algeria, Conceptual Metaphor Theory
