ENAMEL PAINTING OF THE STROGANOV SCHOOL: ATTRIBUTION OF A WOMAN'S PORTRAIT FROM THE COLLECTION OF THE EKATERINBURG FINE ARTS MUSEUM
Abstract
The attribution of a silver plate with a portrait image of a representative of the Romanovs imperial family from the collection of the Ekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts is discussed. The article provides information about the technology and tradition of creating such objects and about the manufacturer, and identifies the source of the portrait of Empress Elizaveta Alekseevna. The study made it possible to attribute the artwork in the museum’s Russian silver collection as the turn of the 19th century and introduce it to the scientific community for the first time. One of the objectives of this article is to highlight this insufficiently studied area of student creativity at the Imperial Stroganov Central School of Industrial Art.
